Casablanca
When I saw that I had to watch a movie from 1942 I completely doubted that it would ever be good. Even though I did not realize it, I was creating a personal bias against the film, because it was older and in black and white, without even giving it a chance. When Casablanca first started I was very confused, because they were showing little clips of everyone in the club talking about different issues, but after a few minutes it started getting better. I really enjoyed it, because there was mystery with a little bit of a love story. The book explains that some films focus on the problems, frustrations, pleasures, and joys of human relationships, such as love, which Casablanca did very well. The director would also use very descriptive words so the audience could visualize colors since it was in black and white. I thought it was interesting how the movie would go further with some of the smaller actors, like Sam, but a lot of other movies will focus on one main character. The thing I liked best about Casablanca was that even the last couple minutes you still were not sure what was going to happen. Casablanca had a very good plot and acting for an older movie.
